NEET National Eligibility Entrance Test is a nationwide common entrance exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for admission to MBBS and BDS courses at the Undergraduate level in various government and private medical colleges across the country.

NEET is a tough exam, and there are many factors that make it so. The syllabus is extensive, it requires a thorough knowledge of NCERT curriculum, it involves tricky numerical problems especially in physics, it has a limited time duration, it has negative marking, it has a lot of hype and it has a scarcity of seats. To make matters worse, the statistics show that, out of the average 13 lakh students who appear in this exam, only 7 lakh of them qualify, and out of these 7 lakh students, there are only 63,000 to 65,000 seats in government medical colleges. This means that only about 5-6% of the qualified students will get admission in government medical colleges, and studying MBBS in a private medical college is very costly, something that a common middle-class person cannot afford.

This makes the competition even more fierce, as everyone wants a government medical college. Therefore, you should follow some tips to make your preparation more effective and smooth:-

1.     Maintain right set of Notes

You should have the right set of notes. Notes that are conceptual, appropriate, short, and simple. There are thousands of study materials that you can follow and a lot of reference books that you can take, should you buy them all? No. pick up that which you think has the most appropriate and the right correctly balanced material. Take them all, pull it together, and put it in a place where you know that you can refer it to the time of examination.

•      Different Approach for different subjects

You should have the right approach to counter every subject separately because physics is not the same as chemistry, chemistry is not the same as biology, numerical is not the same as derivatives. You cannot solve every question with a single method alone, you need a different approach for every kind of problem.

•      Improve your concentration and consistency

You should have a laser sharp focus with steady concentration and you should be able to maintain your consistency for a longer period of time. You shouldn’t get distracted and start making silly mistakes, instead you should start improving your reading speed because distraction starts when you lose your concentration while reading.

•      Practice MCQs on a daily basis

You should be able to solve at least 50-60 MCQs of physics, 40 MCQs of chemistry, and 10-20 MCQs of biology on a daily basis, and after 5-6 months start attempting mock test papers twice a week

•      Time management

Time is a limited resource and we all have the same 24 hours. So plan it well. Your time table must include a balanced approach of each and every subject, followed by MCQs and physical and mental health activities as well.

•      Find a Mentor

You should always consider getting advice on approach regarding different kinds of questions on your appropriate learning center or even better if you have your own. Your mentor has experience regarding all types of questions. So don’t be shy and feel free to ask.

•      Take care of your Health also

On a serious note, don’t overlook your health. Good health will increase your efficiency and in this ruthless examination, efficiency is a must. So do yoga, meditation, take a proper meal at the proper time and try to stay positive.

•      Have Confidence in yourself

If one thing is obvious from the beginning, it is confidence. Correct consistent preparation gives you self-confidence and self-confidence is one of those assets that if you have, can pull you through this exam, and if you don’t then you are doomed.

So try to follow these tips for smooth and effective preparation

In conclusion, NEET is a challenging exam that requires a lot of preparation and determination. It is a reflection of the doctor’s profession, which is also demanding and rewarding. Doctors are not ordinary people, they are life-savers who overcome difficulties and make a difference in the world.
